FCT School Feeding To Gulp N42b Naira Weekly- PAACA Report

There are indications that majority of families resident in the federal capital Territory were not beneficiaries of the federal government home grown feeding programme during the coronavirus lockdown. A report collated by a civil society organisation under the auspices of Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre (PAACA) with support from the department of international development (DFID) revealed disruption of the distribution exercise by thugs in some locations. At a ceremony to launch its publication titled: “Were the Kids Fed”,Executive Director of PAACA Ezenwa Nwagwu said the study was undertaken in response to the scepticism that greeted the directive by President Buhari for commencement of the programme during the lockdown. He further reeled out some recommendations as captured in the report for consideration by the government. Commending the initiative, Special Assistant to the president on School Feeding, Dotun Adebayo said the publication will help address the gap associated in the effective implementation of the school feeding programme. Other analysis in the report indicates that over 42 billion naira would be required to feed about 120,000 pupils in government schools in the nation’s capital on a weekly basis.
