Farouq Commiserates With Families Of Lagos-Ibadan Express Accident.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq has comiserated with families of victims that were reportedly burnt to death in a road accident that occurred at the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday.

The accident which involved a Mazda bus and a petrol tanker occurred near Isara Bridge in Ogun state at about 5.00 a.m.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bashir Nura Alkali, the Minister expressed sadness over the incident and prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives.,

She described the disaster as colossal while mourning the loss of lives in the inferno.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of many lives in this accident. It is very unfortunate. We deployed the National Emergency Management Agency at the time of the accident to work with SEMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps in the rescue operation”

Farouq cautioned all motorists to strictly observe traffic rules and avoid excessive speeding to prevent avoidable accidents on our roads.

” We are all aware that relevant Agencies like the Federal Road Safety Corps and the VIO have been doing a lot in creating awareness on prevention of road accidents. It is equally important that motorists observe traffic rules to minimize road accidents, to save lives and avoid injuries” she added.
