CNS Commissions Ultra-Modern Healthcare Centre, Solar Borehole In Hong, Adamawa

In a significant boost to rural healthcare and civil-military relations, the Nigerian Navy has officially commissioned and handed over a newly constructed Primary Healthcare Centre and a solar-powered borehole to the Mollah community in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The project, executed under the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, was facilitated by an indigenous son of the community, Rear Admiral Kohath Gyelpanyi Levi.

The facility features a modern maternity ward, general ward, consultation rooms, a pharmacy, and a fully equipped laboratory, all powered by a 6.5HP solar inverter system.

Delivering the keynote address, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, emphasized that the initiative is part of a 2024 strategic launch to re-invigorate Civil-Military Cooperation.

Represented by the Director of Policy, Rear Admiral Adamu Yahaya, the Naval Chief noted that the project serves a dual purpose, honouring accomplished senior officers and securing the interests of Nigerians beyond traditional maritime policing.

”These projects are an indication that beyond physically securing lives and properties, we are committed to serving the interests of Nigerians through other ways,” Vice Admiral Abbas stated.

He further noted that the intervention aligns with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens in underserved areas.

Vice Admiral Abbas however, urged the beneficiaries to use the facilities responsibly, while Admiral Levi reminded the Hyema community that the “burden of care and safeguarding” now rests with them.

In his welcome remarks, Rear Admiral KG Levi expressed profound gratitude to the Naval leadership for the opportunity to give back to his roots.

He described the project as a vital “stop-gap” measure to bridge the gap in basic healthcare accessibility within the Hong locality.

”The idea was conceived to breach the challenges of accessing quality healthcare services in our communities.”

“The excitement on the faces of the people today is a testament to the joy of the community in having this project,” Admiral Levi said.

He also extended special appreciation to the Adamawa State Government and the traditional institution, specifically acknowledging the presence of the Royal Father, Tol Alheri Bulus Nyako, despite the Admiral’s initial humble attempts to spare the King the journey to the small community.

The ceremony concluded with an appeal for continued collaboration between the people of Adamawa and the Armed Forces to eliminate security threats and foster collective well-being.
