CDS Oluyede Orders Troops to Intensify Offensive Against North West Bandits

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, has directed troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to escalate their offensive against bandits and criminal elements in the North West, asserting that the nation’s security remains a non-negotiable priority.

General Oluyede issued this charge during an operational visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North West in Gusau, Zamfara State. The visit was designed to evaluate the troops’ operational readiness, address logistical challenges, and boost the morale of personnel engaged in the regional security campaign.

Addressing the gathered troops, the CDS praised their resilience and sacrifices but stressed the need for a relentless pursuit of insurgent groups.

“The safety of our citizens rests on our shoulders,” General Oluyede stated. “You must remain resolute and go after these criminals until they are eliminated. We must make Nigeria safe at all cost.”

To support these objectives, the CDS pledged continued improvements in personnel welfare, specialized training, and the provision of modern operational equipment. He specifically noted that the military is working to enhance air support and coordination across different theatres of operation to ensure a more effective response to threats.

During the visit, General Oluyede also held a consultative meeting with the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Mallam Dauda Lawal. The General thanked the state government for its support of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and urged residents to assist the military by providing timely and credible intelligence.

In response, Governor Lawal commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sustained efforts to restore peace in the region.

The operational visit concluded with a comprehensive briefing on current deployments and a direct interaction between the CDS and frontline troops.
