The Wife of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Martina Yilwatda, has called on Nigerian women to unite and take an active role in politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a dinner organised by the Women’s Leadership Network in Abuja, Dr. Yilwatda who spoke on the theme “When Women Show Up, Nigeria Wins” said women’s participation is vital to sustaining the country’s progress.
The APC Chairman’s wife expressed gratitude to women across the country for their support during her family’s bereavement and said their compassion reflected the strength and unity of Nigerian women, a spirit she urged them to channel toward national development and political engagement.
In her opening remarks, the Founder of the Women’s Leadership Network, Deborah Oriaku, urged members of the network to sustain grassroots mobilisation and solidarity for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, saying women have proven to be pillars of strength in every sector.
On her part, the National Coordinator of the Network, Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, shared insights into what the group seeks to achieve, noting that while women have long been the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, they remain underrepresented in leadership.
The event brought together women leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs all reaffirming their commitment to advancing women’s leadership and ensuring continuity in national development.
