AFLPM, MTI Sign MOU To Strengthen Peace Building Efforts In Africa.

African First Ladies Peace Mission and the Mediation Training Institute have signed a Memoranda of Understanding aimed at promoting peace and harmonious coexistence across the continent.

Former vice president of Liberia, Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor who signed the MOU on behalf of the AFLPM, commended the gesture saying it indicates a significant milestone in the relentless pursuit of peace, stability and development across the continent.

Howard- Taylor while highlighting the many challenges confronting Africa to include conflicts, youth unrest, violence, instability and inequality among others, said the occasion offers an opportunity to change the narrative.

Other opportunities the MOU seeks to achieve, according to the AFLPM Secretary General includes empowering Women and youths with the skills and knowledge necessary to mediate conflicts.

Meanwhile, the president of the Mediation Training Institute, Amb. Segun Ogunyannwo in his remarks said the institute will harvest and galvanize the various peace building initiatives of the first ladies in Africa into a united whole.

The AFLPM was established in 1995 after the Beijing Conference in China to promote peace and harmony in the African continent.
