A civil society group under the aegis of Coalition of Civil Society Organizations and Stakeholders in Abia North Senatorial District, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to include Abia North Senatorial District in the supplementary polls slated for April 15th 2023.
Spokesperson of the Coalition, Chika Orieji, at a news conference in Abuja, said the appeal became necessary following the post election outcry and protest by indigenes of the senatorial district on account of disenfranchisement.
Orieji alleged that report from the INEC accredited observers indicate that election did not hold in over 100 polling units across three local government councils in the senatorial district.
The Coalition however called on the Chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu to review the development and declare the election inconclusive.
The local government councils mentioned in the Coalition’s petition includes Ohafia, Arochukwu and Isuikwuato,all in Abia North senatorial district.
