94th Ordinary Session: ECOWAS Ministers Commit To Regional Security, Economic Integration.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, has called for strategic dialogue aimed at delivering more meaningful outcomes for ECOWAS Member States and their citizens.

The Minister who is also the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers, disclosed this at the two-day 94th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers held in Abuja.

Tuggar emphasized the importance of the session especially as it focuses on addressing critical issues relating to economic integration, political stability, and security cooperation across the region.


The Minister while outlining details of the meeting noted that manifold institutional matters aimed at strengthening the region would be deliberated upon.

Earlier in his remarks, President of the ECOWAS
Dr. Omar Touray who presented a comprehensive overview of ECOWAS’ ongoing initiatives across trade, industry, security, and political transitions,and, canvassed for dismantling of non tariff barriers which over the years has acted as persistent impediments to regional economic growth.


The 2 day 94th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers which runs from June 19 to 20, 2025, is expected to feature top regional leaders who are expected to chart a forward course for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) amidst a complex and evolving geopolitical and economic landscape.
