Ahead of the May day Celebration, the Nigerian Labour Congress says workers rights to decent wage, decent work, good health, safe environment, protection from hazard work environment among others has been thoroughly challenged.
The General Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja stated this while addressing news men at a lecture lined up as part of activities to commemorate the day at the NLC headquarters in Abuja.
Ugboaja stated that enforcing workers rights in successive administrations have been one of Congress greatest task over the years.
Meanwhile,the guest lecturer,Dr Sam Amadin in his presentation highlighted reasons why Nigeria is yet to attain the welfare state status.
The theme of the lecture and this year’s may day celebration is ” Workers Right and Socio Economic Justice”.
