There are indications that former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may defect to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) ahead of the 2023 General Elections.
The outgoing National Secretary of the NNPP, Agbo Gilbert Major disclosed this on the sidelines of the Special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on Abuja.
He said the party which is restrategising for next year’s general election is in deep talks with the former Governor on the possibility of joining it’s fold alongside his allies.
Major who further revealed plans by the party to hold a national convention said the outcome of ongoing discussion with senator Kwankwaso would be unfolded soon.
Major was also quick to add that the party will not be going into merger or coalition with any group or political party, the same way he dismissed the possibility of automatic presidential ticket for Senator Kwankwaso.
Some of the prominent Kwankwaso loyalists that attend the meeting include former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali; former National Secretary of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Engr. Buba Galadima; and former Kaduna Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi among others.
