Amasiri Community Rejects “Malicious” Allegations of Planned Attacks on Military

37

The people of the Amasiri communities have formally refuted allegations of a planned attack against the Nigerian Army and neighboring Okporojo communities, describing the claims as “false, malicious, and deliberately crafted to mislead the public.”
In a press statement signed by Hon. Amadi Maduka, the former Deputy President General of the Amasiri Town Union, the community categorically denied involvement in any criminal conspiracy. The allegations were reportedly circulated by a group identified as the Edda Media Practitioners.
A Community Under Distress
The statement emphasized the “illogical” nature of the accusations, pointing out that a significant portion of the Amasiri population is currently displaced and scattered following a recent military incursion.
”To attribute to such a distressed population the capacity or intent to orchestrate violence defies reason,” the statement read. “A significant number of our people—including the elderly, pregnant women, and the vulnerable—are trapped in difficult conditions, struggling for access to basic necessities.”
Call for Forensic Investigation
Addressing a controversial voice note used to back the allegations, the Amasiri leadership called on security agencies to conduct a thorough forensic examination. They suggested the audio might be a product of artificial intelligence or a fabrication by “mischief-makers” intended to incite further military action against them.
The former President General of the Amasiri Town Union, currently in exile, corroborated this stance, noting that despite the “unlawful presence” of security forces, no Amasiri native has engaged in even a single act of resistance or aggression.
Commitment to Peace
The community leaders highlighted their history of producing world-class professionals and maintaining a culture of lawfulness. They warned that the current “wave of media propaganda” appears to be driven by individuals seeking to benefit from a “sentimental and vindictive approach” against the town.

The statement concluded with a plea to the public and security agencies to ignore unverified narratives and instead prioritize justice, dialogue, and the humanitarian needs of the displaced population.
