AFCRD 2026: 4 Brigade Holds Interdenominational Service
The 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with sister services and veteran groups, held an interdenominational church service to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Celebrations and Remembrance Day (AFCRD).
The service, held in Benin City, brought together personnel from the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), the 107 Air Maritime Group of the Nigerian Air Force, the Military Hospital, and the Edo State Chapter of the Nigerian Legion.
In a statement released by Captain Kennedy Anyanwu, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 4 Brigade, the event was described as a solemn occasion to honor and remember officers and soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice in defense of Nigeria and the pursuit of global peace.
Delivering the sermon titled “Celebration of Victory and Remembrance of the Fallen Heroes,” Lieutenant Colonel (Rev) MS Dallys drew scriptural insights from 1 Samuel 17:45–51. The cleric offered prayers for the repose of the souls of heroes lost during the First and Second World Wars, the Nigerian Civil War, and various internal and external peacekeeping missions. He further prayed for the continued success of the Armed Forces in ongoing operations across the country.
The ceremony featured active participation from senior military leadership. The First Lesson was read by the Commandant of NASST, Major General AO Adegbite, while the Commander of the 107 Air Maritime Group, Air Commodore EV Onu, took the Second Lesson.
In his remarks at the conclusion of the service, the Commander of 4 Brigade, Brigadier General AO Balogun, noted that the spiritual activities for AFCRD 2026 in Edo State began on Friday, January 9, with a special Juma’at prayer at the 4 Brigade Mosque.
Brigadier General Balogun concluded by seeking divine protection and blessings for all serving, retired, and discharged personnel, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to never forgetting the sacrifices of its military members.
