The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has confirmed that the electronic gates mounted at the Nnqmdi Azokiwe International Airport Abuja would be deployed for operations next week.
The Minister gave the indication while inspecting the facilities at the airport in Abuja.
Tunji- Ojo who noted that the installation of the e- gates is 99 percent completed said they are being deployed to eliminate human interfaces, reduce bureaucracy and make movement of passengers in and out the country seamless.
Explaining that the e gates are equipped with modern facilities, Tunji- Ojo disclosed plans to deploy the innovation to other airports in the country.
The Minister who also visited the Nigeria Immigration Service Command and Control Centres said the facilities have been subjected to different tests to eliminate unwanted persons into the country.
He described the interventions as part of president Tinubu renewed hope agenda to change the narrative in the nations aviation sector.
