Respite will soon come the way of consumers of electricity as the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says plan is in the offing to make estimated billing unattractive.
The Executive Vice Chairman, Babatunde Irukera, who disclosed this at an interactive session with news men in Abuja said the commission has been a washed with complaint of exorbitant estimated billings by power companies that is not commensurate with consumption.
He said the commission is putting final touches towards making estimated billing unattractive for Discos to enable them see reasons to make prepaid metres available for consumers.
He also said individuals and organisations are currently being prosecuted by the commission for various offences bordering on consumer rights.
The FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman further revealed that the commission is still investigating oil marketers over the recent importation of adulterated fuel.
The Commission however, noted that first quarter of 2022 has been so intense as a result of hardship imposed on consumers due to the economic crisis the nation is facing.
