NPC Advocates Family Planning To Address Nigeria’s Population Growth.
NPC Chairman,Nasir Isa Kwarra said this at a Workshop on Revised National Policy on Population for Sustainable Development Organised in collaboration with Africa Health Budget Network in Abuja in Abuja.
He disclosed plans by government to ensure the policy is implemented as it remains one of the surest strategies to control the nation’s population growth.
The NPC boss, further highlighted measures adopted by the federal government to achieve a 2 percent population growth rate target as captured in the Sustainable Development goals (SDGs).
Earlier on his remarks, the Coordinator Africa Health Budget Network, Aminu Magashi said the rationale for the meeting is to engage the media on the promotion of the nations population policy.
Other components of the Policy includes increased universal health coverage for children under 5 from the current 31 percent to 56 percent in 2025 and 80 percent by 2030.
