The Original Inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory have over the years decried their continuous marginalisation by several administrations.

Speaking at a town hall meeting on Mining Community Development Agreements CDAs and Inuaguration of Community Cultural Ambassadors organised by the Centre for Transparency Advocacy (CTA), the chairman of the Original Inhabitants of the FCT,Ambassador Lazarus Nyaholo ,questioned their gains of playing host as the centre of unity in the country.

He said the original inhabitants have been marginalized because they have no elected representatives to project their grievances before constituted authorities.

Economically, Nyahola said they have been reduced to paupers as their source of livelihood have been taken away without due compensation by the government.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Centre for Transparency Faith Nwadishi in her remarks called for continuous push for the promotion and respect of the rights of the Original Inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory.

She said the rationale for the town hall meeting is to help them project their grievances particularly as it concerns the Community Development Agreements with the Authorities.

The highlight of the event was the Inauguration of the Federal Capital Territory Original Inhabitants Cultural Ambassadors who are expected to represent the communities.
