The Middle Belt Conscience Guard has solicited the support of the Southern leaders in Nigeria towards the actualization of the presidential ambition of the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello in 2023.
Secretary General of the Forum, Omale Ben who addressed newsmen in Abuja disagreed with the opinions being expressed by many that the presidency should return to the south, arguing that two zones from the south have had the presidency twice.
This they said is in the spirit of reciprocity and the gesture that was extended to the South-South when the people of the north central gave the former president Goodluck Jonathan overwhelming support to clinch the presidency in 2011.
The forum insisted that the North Central is deserving of a shot at governance at the national level in compensation for its numerous contributions to peace and development in Nigeria and that the aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello presents the region with the best opportunity.
