While electoral materials arrived in some polling units within the Abuja municipal area council as early as 8.30am, so cannot be said of other area Councils in the capital territory.

However, some of the polling units visited by Channel Network Afrique Crew, recorded low turnout of voters especially the newly created ones.

In some other centres that recorded large voters turnout, the Bimodal voter accreditation system BIVAS deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the exercise almost marred the process.

This, the People’s Democratic party PDP Chairmanship candidate for AMAC area council, Hon. Christopher Maikalangu in his Apo poling unit and other voters did not take likely.

The election was however, relatively peaceful as there were no cases of violence in any polling units as at the time of filing this report Security agencies were on ground to ensure there is no breakdown of law and order while others were positioned at strategic locations to enforce movement restrictions as imposed by the FCT police command.

Some of the voters on their part expressed mixed reactions to the conduct of the polls. As the Fate of over 400 candidates contesting for various positions in the six area Councils are expected to be decided by the vote cast in 2,229 poling units in the FCT

,it is expected that the out come of the election will serve as litmus test for INEC ahead of the conduct of future off circle elections including the 2023 general polls.
