The Panel that investigated the 21 storey building collapse in Ikoyi, Lagos has officially submitted its report to the Council For the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
The panel which was set up few days after the incident in November 2021, was given the mandate to unravel the immediate and remote cause of the collapse. Receiving the report in Abuja, the COREN President, Eng.
Rabiu Ali said the outcome of the panel would be made public after it has been fully studied by the council. The Chairman of the investigative panel, George Okoroma said despite the challenging task of the assignment, the team unraveled the cause of the Ikoyi building collapse as well as make recommendations that will forestall future occurrence.
The Council For the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) however, assured that the recommendations in the report will be fully implemented by the government, as well as warned that going forward, the council would not hesitate to impose severe sanctions on defaulting practitioners for negligence.
