I was Attacked, My House Burnt For Defending Nnamdi Kanu – Ejiofor

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a member of the legal team of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has narrated his ordeal on how he was severally harassed, intimidated and attacked by security operatives for carrying out his lawful duty of defending his client, the separatist agitator.

Ejiofor in an emotion laden voice noted that apart from threats to his life, police invaded his home town in Oraifite, Anambra State, killed his brother and burnt down his house.

The Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer who disclosed this in Abuja when he was honoured with the award of Pan African Prize For Excellence by the African Students Union Parliament indicated that despite the ordeals he has suffered in the hands of security operatives, he will not be deterred from giving legal services to clients standing trial on criminal charges.

After the award presentation, leader of the African Students Union Parliament, Kewul Sule said the lawyer was selected for the honour based on his courageous stance against injustice and his act of benevolence to the less privileged in the society.

Some past recipients of the award include, Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, former Chief Judge, Federal High Court, justice Ibrahim Auta, Executive Vice Chairman, Ghanian Communications Commission among others.
