A civil society group under the auspices of Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency has applauded the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami for introducing institutional reforms in the war against corruption and recovery of Looted funds.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the Executive Director of the group, Isaac Ikpa, said the ministry, under Malami, has successfully tracked all assets recovered on behalf of the Federal Government by various law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies through the use of Whistle Blowers Policy.
Ikpa disclosed that in 2020, a total sum of $311.7million was returned to Nigeria after the signing of trilateral agreement with the USA and Bailiwick of Jersey initiated by the minister.
The group further passed a vote of confidence on Malami, an indication they say is inview of his commitment to Implementation of the Justice Sector Reform Strategy covering key issues like International Cooperation Mechanisms, Mutual Legal Assistance and reform of the Criminal Justice System.
