CIVIL Society Organisations under the aggies of Coalition of Civil Society Groups (CCSG), wants political parties in the country including the ruliy All Progressive Congress (APC) to zone the 2023 presidency to the southern part of the country . This was indicated in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of APC and PDP during a peaceful protest at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
According to the President of the Coalition, Bassey Williams,the call became necessary for the sake of fairness and continuous unity of the country. The Group further called on political gladiators to support the power rotation arrangement between the north and south saying it will complement efforts targeted at addressing the nation’s challenges.
Also at the APC National Secretariat, an aspirant for the Ogoja/Yala Northern Federal Constituency on the platform of the ruling party, Henry Onwe, has debunk insinuations of stepping down from the parliamentary race. Onwe was at the Buhari House APC Headquarters to submit his intent nomination form to via for the elections.
Recall that the seat became vacant following the swearing-in of Rt Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as the Senator representing the Cross River State northern senatorial district after the death of Sen Rose Oko in 2020.
Before then, Jarigbe was the House of Representatives member, representing the federal constituency.
