The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has fixed 4th to 29th January 2022 as timeframe for conduct of primaries for the Ekiti State Governorship election. INEC also scheduled 16th February to 12th march for that of Osun State Governorship election. INEC chairman,Prof Mahmood Yakubu gave the indication at a meeting with Resident Resident Electoral Commissioners on Abuja. Prof Yakubu warned political parties on need to adhere to the provisions of the law in choosing their candidates for the elections as the primaries would be monitored by officials of the Commission to ensure it conforms with standard. The forthcoming Area council election on the federal capital territory scheduled for 12th February,2022 was also highlighted by Prof Yakubu who noted that arrangement have been made to print over 39,000 new permanent voters card ahead of the poll. The commission used the occasion to access it’s conduct of the Anambra Governorship election insisting that the introduction of technology for election purposes will continued to be strengthened to ensure free fair credible elections in the country.
