Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed worry over the state of insecurity in the country, urging the government to take concrete actions to change the narrative. Obasanjo gave the indication in Abuja at a retreat on inclusive security organised by the Global Peace Foundation in collaboration with Vision Africa.
He advocated need for political will to be matched with political action to address the situation, as military actions alone is not the way out.
The Conference was also attended by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who in his remarks affirmed that all is not well with Nigeria.
The convener of the conference, Rev Sunday Onuaha, Bishop of Evangelism and Discipleship, Methodist Church Nigeria, Reverend. Sunday Onuoha,and other speakers advocated the need for the government to adopt the carrot and stick approach .
The option of dialogue was also emphasized at the conference as a possible way out of the insecurity challenges.
