The Human Rights Writer’s Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), has alleged massive corruption in the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons. HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko at a news conference in Abuja said the commission under it’s present leadership has deviated from the sole purpose it was established. The Group also raised eyebrows on the recently launched Operation Zero Hunger by the commission, insisting that the policy does not cater for the interest of the refugees. HURIWA however called on the federal government to do the needful and restore sanity at the Commission. HURIWA among other demands is seeking for a forensic audit of the Commission’s finances, including investigations into the alleged arson in its procurement office.
