SGBV: Stakeholders Renew Calls For Establishment Of Specials Courts.

The 16 days of activism against Gender based violence is an annual international campaign that kickstart every 25 November and run till 10 December . The initiative observed every year is a strategy adopted to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. At a news conference to unveil activities lined up to commemorate this year’s edition of the campaign, the Program officer, Rule of Law and Anti corruption (RULAC) Hannatu Essien said it is targeted at mobilizing relevant stakeholders on the applicability of special courts for sexual and gender based violence. This she noted is inview of the number of SGBV prosecuted cases as compared to the number of reports. Essien who was fast to react on why the situation has been so over the years, attributed the development to reasons that informed the decision to counsel victims on how to preserve evidence against perpetrators of SGBV. The theme of the 2021 16 days of activism against Gender based violence is Orange the World: End Violence against Women now.
