The Federal Government has debunked rumors alleging it presented a budget of N82 billion Naira for procurement of mosquito nets. Minister for Health, Osagie Ehinare, who disclosed this at the ministerial briefing updates on covid 19, Cholera, Health Promotion and other related issues in Abuja described the information as incorrect, misleading and not representative of the facts of the matter. Ehinare, said the $200 million loan request is Nigeria’s counterpart fund to complement a global malaria action plan to combat malaria in Nigeria. Also at the briefing, the Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC), Mojisola Adeyeye, said plans are in top gear for Nigeria to begin manufacturing of it’s own vaccines to fight disease outbreaks. Meanwhile, the representative of the Nigeria Center for Disease and Control NCDC Dr Yahaya Disu, advocated need for continuous adherence to Covid 19 protocols insisting that it is not yet uhuru for Nigeria and other nations of the world. Other takeaways from the briefing include the federal government commitment to heighten Covid 19 surveillance at the land , airports and seaports.
