TETFUND Approves N6.4Bn For 217 Research Proposals.

The sum of 6.3 billion naira has been approved for 217 research proposals as recommended by the National Research Fund by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund. (TETFUND). Executive Secretary of TETfund, Prof Sulieman Bogoro who disclosed this at the inauguration of the Funds National Research Fund Screening and monitoring Committee and Technical Advisory Group in Abuja said the intervention is under the 2020 grant cycle exercise. He said the NRF was introduced in 2009 as a special intervention programme aimed at promoting the conduct of applied research and innovation by academics in public tertiary education institutions as well as research institutes. He charged members of the Committee to live above board, warning that TETfund will not hesitate to wield the big stick against anyone that compromise standard. Chairman of TETfund board of Trustees Kashim Ibrahim – Imam performed the task of inaugurating the committee and the Technical Advisory Group. He said the Fund will continue to focus strategic attention on Research and Development and other areas to usher in the much desired development in the nation. Meanwhile, chairmen of both Committees in their remarks assured of efforts to deliver on their mandate. Some of their terms of reference includes, prequalify applications for research grants for academics in beneficiary institutions to ensure they are in compliance with the approved template for accessing the TETfund NRF grant, receive and screen proposals for development into academic textbooks and advise the Fund on fundable Manuscripts among others.
