PDP Convention: 3600 Delegates To Elect Party’s Officers

Barring last minute changes, a total of 3600 delegates are expected to converge on Eagle Square, October 30th and 31st in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to elect the national officials of the Peoples Democratic Party. Eagle Square, venue of the 2021 National Convention of the party is set and wearing a new look with security operatives present around the area, to prevent a breach of peace and other as 3600 delegates are expected to cast their votes for a new national leadership. Addressing news men in Abuja on the October 30 and 31 exercise, the Chairman of the National Convention Organising Committee of PDP, Ahmadu Fintiri said that the event will go on uninterrupted. He disclosed that efforts are ongoing to reconcile the contestants in order for the party to have a smooth convention. Earlier at the meeting between governors elected under the platform of the party, the Chairman, Aminu Tambuwal hinted that the party is considering consensus arrangement in electing the party’s national officials. The Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt Rivers State has refused application for injunction filed by the suspended PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus against the national convention, clearing the coast for the party’s programme to go on as planned. The positions that will be contested at the Eagle Square include the Deputy National Chairman, National Publicity Secretary, Deputy National Organising Secretary, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, National Treasurer, National Legal Adviser among others.
