Nigerians will not forget in a hurry the intrigues that characterized the October 20th 2020 alleged shooting and use of excessive force by security agencies on Nigerians protesting against police brutality under the movement #ENDSARs at the popular Lekki toll gate in Lagos. One year after, a group of protesters converged on the unity fountain in Abuja to commemorate the sad event, some of them who spoke to Channel network afrique expressed grievances that nobody has been brought to book one year after the alleged shooting. They further questioned the integrity of the various investigative panel set up to unravel the mystery behind the lekki shooting and other form of abuses by the police. It would be recalled that some of the demands that top the request of the ENDSARs Protesters include; immediate release of arrested protesters, Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation, increase in the salaries and allowances of police officers, setting up an independent body to investigate allegations of police misconduct and to prosecute those indicted and the psychological evaluation of officers of the disbanded SARs. before they are deployed into other units.
