Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says Nigeria is in talks with the World bank and other global lenders to raise about 30 million dollars to finance the establishment of a vaccine factory in the country. Osinbajo gave the indication while declaring open the International Conference on Health Access and Socio economic development Beyond Covid-19,the first multi sectoral approach to solution finding held in Abuja. Explaining that the initiative is driven by the present health Situation predicated by the Covid 19 pandemic across the globe,the vice president expressed optimism that the plant will take off operations in the first quarter of 2022. Osinbajo further disclosed reasons that informed the establishment of the Health Sector Intervention Fund by the government, saying it is targeted at changing the narrative in deployment of More funds to the sector. Earlier in his remarks, the Director General of the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Dr Obi Adigwe highlighted some of the milestones recorded by the institute in the fight against COVID-19. The Conference is the brainchild of NIPRD with clear mandate to bring together multi disciplinary academics to engage and synthesis new approaches to solving global health Challenges. It has as it’s theme” Assuring Health Access and Socio- Economic Development beyond COVID 19.
