Why Nigeria Is Not On UK’s COVID-19 Red List- FG.

Nigerians have been assured that the country is not on the red list of nation’s required to isolate for 14 days on arrival in the United Kingdom (UK). Recall that the British government had on 4th October released a list of 50 countries who will not be required to isolate on arrival in the UK on presentation of their vaccination certificate with Nigeria excluded. Reacting to the development, the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Dr. Faisal Shuaib at a press conference on Progress of COVID-19 Vaccination in Nigeria says there is no cause for alarm. He noted that the UK government approved the Covid 19 vaccines administered in the country even if it is yet to review Nigeria’s vaccination certification programme status. The NPHCDA boss further disclosed the arrival of 501,600 doses of Astrazeneca Vaccines donated by the french government to Nigeria with over 3 million doses still expected in the next 2 weeks.This he said informed the decision to include the private health facilities to fast track utilisation of the vaccines. The briefing was attended by the representatives of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund who in their separate remarks commended the ongoing vaccination exercise in the country with caution for more push. Key summary of the briefing indicates that four million, nine hundred and sixty three thousand, nine hundred and eighty five eligible persons have been vaccinated with the first dose of Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine with about two million, one hundred and sixty six thousand, one hundred and eighty six others administered with the second dose as at Monday 4 the October,2021.
