The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige has asked the officials of the Federal Character Commission to use the constitutional powers of the commission to promote national unity in Nigeria. Ngige made the demand when the Chairman of FCC, Dr Muheeba Dankaka, and other Federal Commissioners paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja. He appealed to the commission to ensure equitable distribution of amenities, infrastructure and social services in the country. Ngige also frowned at a situation where states in Nigeria employ and pay foreigners five times higher than their Nigerian counterparts. Earlier the Chairman of FCC, Dankaka assured that the commission under her will continue to discharge its mandate in a manner that will eschew the feeling of marginalization from any quarters of the country. The delegation were also briefed on other areas of responsibilities they can as well exercise their mandate.
