The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has restated commitment to continuous improvement of the electoral process. This as the Commission under the leadership of Prof Mahmood Yakubu bagged the Leadership Newspaper Government Agency of the year 2020 award. Receiving the award on behalf of the commission, National Commissioner and Chairman Voter Education Committee,Festus Okoye who noted that the gesture did not come as a surprise,said it is an indication of more work and implementation of policies to deepen the nation’s democracy. Earlier, Organisers of the Award commended the INEC leadership for the 2019 general elections and other off season polls conducted amidst restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. National and Regional Insecurity: the role of political and non political actors in stabilization and Nation Building was the theme of the award ceremony.
