Peaceful Coexistence: IDFP Urges Nigerians To Shun Religious Extremism.
As part of measures to mitigate religious violence in Nigeria and enthrone peaceful coexistence, a faith based group under the aegis of Interfaith Dialogue Forum For Peace has advised Christians and Muslims in the country to shun act of religious extremism and hate speech. This is contained in a communique read by the Co-chairman of the group, Sunday Onuoha at a news conference in Abuja. The group also plans to issue a code of conduct to the adherents of the two major religion in the country which focuses on promoting religious understanding through constructive principles of dialogue. According to them, the code of conduct which also centred on mutual respect, conflict resolution mechanism among others is expected to be distributed to schools, churches and mosques. The organisers further called for mutual understanding among Nigerians irrespective of cultural or religious affiliation.
