The Nigerian media only recently was awash with reports of a Lagos federal high court order to freeze Kogi state government account domiciled in one of the new generation Banks over a 20 billion naira loan. Justice Tijani Ringim had granted the order pending conclusion of ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the state commissioner of Information, Kingsley Fanwo debunked the claims disclosing plans by the Kogi state government to seek redress in a court of competent jurisdiction. Fanwo also linked the report to activities of unscrupulous elements bent on tarnishing the rising profile of Governor Yahaya Bello. The Commissioner further assured of Governor Bello’s commitment to transparency, probity and accountability of resources especially in delivery of democratic dividends to the people of the confluence state.
