We Are Yet To Renew MTN Unified Access Service License- NCC
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has clarified that it is yet to approve the application for the renewal of MTN Nigeria’s Universal Access and Service (UASL) Licence.
The country’s telecoms regulator made the clarification, in view of a media report, purporting that the telecoms firm has been approved to perform telecoms activities as a licensed operator in the country for another 20 years.
A signed statement by the Director, Public Affairs, NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, indicates that the online publication had cited regulatory filings by the Commission as its source.
The statement noted the publication said, that “MTN Nigeria, the nation’s largest mobile network operator (MNO), has secured regulatory approval of the renewal of its operating licence for another 10 years with effect from September 1, 2021.”
“The Commission wishes to state that while MTN Nigeria has applied for the renewal of the Universal Access and Service (UASL) License granted to it by the Commission, the application is yet to be approved as it is still undergoing required regulatory processes”. Adinde said.
The statement was issued for the guidance of the general stakeholders.
