The Independent National Electoral Commission, says the adaptation of biometric technology by the Commission has brought positive changes in the electoral process in Nigeria. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this known during the tour of biometric voter registration centre in the Federal Capital Territory by a delegation of the National Electoral Commission of Liberia. He said the electronic exercise has led to a great departure from the past where eligible voters crowd centres for registration purposes. The INEC boss also noted that Nigeria is increasingly moving away from the manual processes by deploying more technology for the transparency and credibility of the electoral process in the country. The Chairperson, National Electoral Commission of Liberia, Davidetta Lansanah while commending INEC on the introduction of an online registration portal said the visit and facility tour to the biometric voter registration centre is part of measures to deepen Liberian electoral process and learn more on electronic capturing of voters and electoral process in Nigeria. The FCT INEC officials were seen at the centre doing both physical and online registration of eligible voters.
