NCC Boss, Others Shower Encomium On Retired Deputy Director, Jerry Ugwu

The Executive Vice-Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has described recently retired Deputy Director, Mr. Jerry Ugwu, as a role model, dedicated and an exemplary staff with excellent work ethics.

Prof. Danbatta who made this known at the valedictory session in honour of the management staff in Abuja said the Mr. Ugwu was diligent with outstanding work ethics which he demonstrated while in the service of the Commission.

In an NCC statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, quote the representative of the EVC, the Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management of the Commission, Mr. Adeleke Adewolu, as saying the retired staff made significant impact in various capacities where he served in the NCC.

“Jerry Ugwu is a pleasant personality, reserved but resourceful.

“He is a gentleman, who is contented and has served the Commission creditably in the past one decade. We, therefore, wish you happy retirement” he said.

Earlier, Director of LRS at NCC, Josephine Amuwa, said Ugwu “served meritoriously in various capacities over the years and contributed his quota to the growth of the telecoms secto in the country”.

“This is a day of celebration not only for all you have accomplished but also for all the possibilities that will be unfolding before you.

“We pray that the Almighty God give you the wisdom and strength needed to fulfill all your personal aspirations, post-retirement.

“Enjoy the new chapter of your life and enjoy being your own boss; say ‘Goodbye!’ to tension and ‘Hello!’ to your pension.”

The celebrant, Jerry Ugwu appreciated the Commission for the opportunity given to him to serve as well as appreciated his colleagues for orgainsing a befitting retirement.

“I am humbled to hear all these good comments that have been said about me; and I am grateful to all of you for organising this valedictory party in my honour.”

The statement added that they took turns to shower encomiums on Ugwu, the celebrant, and wished him well in retirement.

Mr. Jerry Ugwu, a seasoned lawyer who joined in 2010 as Chief of Staff in the office of the former Executive Vice-Chairman exited the agency at the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

He rose from the ranks to hold his last position as the Head, Legal Registry Unit, in the Legal and Regulatory Services (LRS) Department of the Commission.

The valedictory session was attended both physically and virtually by Senior Management Staff, including Ubale Maska, NCC’s Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, and other members of staff of the Commission, as well as family members.
