The federal government has restated commitment to efforts that will drive Nigeria at the forefront of new and emerging technologies. Inview of this development, consultations have been concluded with relevant stakeholders on Nanotechnology. MInister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu said this at the 2nd interactive forum with State Commissioners of Science and Technology in Abuja. The Minister also indicated plans by government to improve funding of science, technology and Innovation in efforts to achieve the set target. While disclosing plans by the ministry to introduce Methanol to the nation’s economy, Onu described the initiative as part of agenda to prepare Nigeria for post crude oil era. Earlier, the minister of state for science and technology, Bar. Mohammed Abdullahi called for close collaboration that would enhance the effective domestication of the National STI road map 2017-2030. Other highlights of the meeting includes need for state governments to create the needed governance structure that will facilitate the deployment of STI in fast tracking economic development.
