This is the first stakeholders review of the draft National Biosecurity policy. Their mandate is to initiate policies,regulations and management strategies expected to drive efforts towards safeguarding the wellbeing of the nation. Taking into cognisance the fact that humans, animals, plants and water bodies are at the receiving end of the impact of bio threats, Minister of state for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor which declaring the 2 day meeting open said the success of the policy review will change the narrative as well as institutionalize a competent coordinating authority to achieve a bio secured Nigeria. Having set the stage for the task ahead,the stakeholders are expected to fine tune the document Basically to meet Nigerias bio safety requirement. Other gains of the policy review includes implementation of an integrated Biosecurity approach at the national and sub national levels.
