The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Ayuba Wabba has called on Nigerian workers to continue to stand up against neo liberal policies of government. The NLC president gave the Indication in Abuja at the 3rd National Quadrennial conference of Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education Nigeria, (SSUCOEN). Wabba who stated that development can Effectively be measured by the economic status of the workforce however regretted the Nigerian scenario where the workers are at the mercy of those in authority. He however warned against attempt to use the ongoing constitutional amendments to further impoverish the workforce saying such move would be resisted. Meanwhile, the outgoing President of the Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education Nigeria Comrade Danladi Msheliza in his valedictory speech expressed worry over the neglect of the sun sector by successive governments. Former ASUU President and Guest speaker Prof Biodun Ogunyemi in his presentation on the theme of the conference titled ” Trade Unions and Emerging Challenges in the World of Work canvassed need for workers to rise to the challenge of the new order A new leadership of the Union is expected to emerge at the end of the delegate conference.
