NCC Donates Mattresses,Phones To NYSC.
The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has donated
phones and 100 mattresses to National Youth Service Corps camp in Abuja.
Speaking at the occasion on Friday at NYSC orientation camp Kubwa Abuja, Executive vice chairman of the commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta stated that the gesture was one of the commission’s numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), adding that the initiative was to bring support to the NYSC members.
Represented by the Director Public Affairs, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde, Danbatta said the commission shares in the lost caused by looters to the NYSC camp during #EndSARS protest last year.
“We are here today to share in your loss and to support the replacement of some of the items carted away by hoodlums during the End SARS protests of October 27, 2020,he said.
“The Commission is here to present you with a hundred pieces of Mattresses for the use of the Corp members. This act is one out of the Commission’s numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)” he noted.
He said the youth plays vital role in nation building and deserve more attention to their well-being.
“The youth as we know, plays a great role in national building. They contribute to national development and are responsible for bringing social reforms. As the saying goes, the youth of a countrys the future of a country,he said.
“The Commission as the foremost regulator in Nigeria’s telecom industry has been supporting the youth through various projects and activities aimed at making them self-reliant and enhancing their contribution to the economy”
Adinde called on the NYSC members especially the 2021 batch ‘A’ stream II to be disciplined in all spheres of life.
Earlier, the NYSC FCT coordinator, Abdul Suleiman commended the NCC for the solidarity and support shown to the Corps members.
Abdul, who spoke on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim,said that the commission had lived up to expectations.
“The miscreant left us devastated but undaunted as we pick up the pieces and commence the process of replacing some of the stolen items.
“I am happy to received 100 mattresses donated by NCC to alleviate the gaps created by the miscreants, he said.
