NIS To Commence New Passport Application June 8- Babandede

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it has so far issued over 230,000 passport booklets to prospective clients. This is as the service also extended the collection of pending 43,000 passport booklets by one week. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the NIS Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede said the extension was informed by need to avoid congestion and adhered to the Covid 19 protocols. He however assured that the backlogs would be cleared in the next one week. A new timeframe for Application of passport was also announced by the NIS boss. Babandede who also reacted to other issues as it affect the service condemned the recent attack on its facility in Abia state. The CG further urged it’s personnel across the country to continue to stand firm and protect the integrity of the service, as well as work with other sister agencies to safe guard the nation’s borders
