INEC Records 41 Attacks On It’s Facilities In 2 Years- Yakubu

This is an expended emergency meeting between the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Heads of Security Agencies held at the Commission headquarters in Abuja. The agenda of the meeting is clear inview of the rising trend of wanton attacks inec facilities especially in the south East. In his remarks, Inec Chairman, Prof Mahmud Yakubu expressed sadness over the development which he noted might constitute a major threat to the commissions activities including the November 6 2021 Anambra Governorship election.. While calling for a close collaboration with the agencies, Prof Yakubu reaffirmed hope that the meeting will initiate workable solution to the challenge. On their part, the security Agencies assured of efforts to curtail the acts of aggression which tend to undermine the nation’s Electoral process. The meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Babagana Mongonu, chief of defence staff ,General Lucky Irabor, Chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission ,Abdulrasheed Bawa and a host of other heads of security Agencies.
