President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Nigerian Military to emulate the bravery, commitment and discipline of the late Chief Of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General, Ibrahim Attahiru. He stated this at the final funeral rite and interment of the COAS alongside 10 other officers who died in a plane crash in Kaduna state. The remains which was laid at the National Military Cemetery Abuja was moved from the 44 Nigerian Army Referral hospital Kaduna to the National mosque as well as the Nigerian Air Force protestant church before the interment ceremony. Earlier, a minute of silence was observed, following which the departed officers were honoured with a 21-gun salute, a custom of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Represented by the Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, President Buhari described the deceased as heroes who paid the ultimate price for the peace and security of the nation Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Defence staff, Major General Lucky Irabor, assured that the Armed forces remains undaunted in the fight against insecurity. The funeral rite was graced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Senate President, Ministers, the Kaduna state Governor among other top government functionaries.
