17,141 teachers across the 36 states and the federal capital territory on Saturday May 22nd 2021 wrote the professional Examination Organised by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) This is as the federal government once again restated commitment to flush out unqualified teachers from the profession in all public and private schools in Nigeria. Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Architect Sonny Echono who supervised the conduct of the examination in Abuja,said the gesture is to ensure the profession is regulated with only the qualified allowed to teach. He further added that enforcement of the policy is ongoing in public schools nationwide. Earlier, Acting Director Specification and Licensing, Mrs Jacinta Ogboso said Osun state has the highest number of candidates in the batch A examination across the country. While noting that the Council is taking step to address cases of teachers with special needs especially the visually impaired, Mrs Ogboso said talks are on with institutions that specializes in the area.
