The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Prof Mahmud Yakubu has expressed worry of the recent attacks on the commissions facilities, describing the trend as impediment to the conduct of credible Elections in the country. Prof Yakubu gave the Indication at an emergency meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja. Describing the development as worrisome, the INEC boss said it a dent to improvements in the electoral process towards the 2923 elections. Prof Yakubu however expressed optimism that next week meeting with security Agencies will help explore ways to check the act. He further assured that despite the setback, the commission remains undaunted in it’s programme lined up ahead of the 2023 general elections.
