The Federal Government has expressed need for security agencies to synergise as well as step up their games in tackling the current spate of insecurity in the country.
Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola made the call in Abuja at the official decoration of eight newly promoted top officers from the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Minister, who urged the officers to be committed in the discharge of their duties by responding effectively to issues of insecurity in the country however, advised them to maximise their grassroots penetration for intelligent gatherings.
Responding on behalf of the newly decorated officers, Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Haliru Abdulmalik assured the federal government of their commitment to ensure that they deploy their expertise to address the security challenges bedeviling the country.
Four out of the newly decorated officers are from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Correctional Service has three and one from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC).
The ceremony was graced by heads of the paramilitary Service, which include the Comptroller General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, the Commandant General of NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar and the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Hababa as well as friends family and friends of the elevated officers.
