A Coalition of civil society organisations have expressed worry over what they referred to as lackadaisical attitude of the 9th Assembly in the passage of a new electoral act. The CSO’s expressed regret over the development noting that they have consistently engaged the lawmakers in the last 15 months to make the passage of the new act a major priority. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, Ariyo- Dare Atoye of the Centre of Liberty disclosed plans by the coalition to occupy the National assembly untill the needful is done. They also faulted the role of the political parties, insisting that Nigerians deserve good leaders from a credible electoral process. As part of efforts to ensure their demands are met, the coalition disclosed that letters have been sent to Nigeria’s Foreign partners on democratic governance to prevail on the National Association to pass the bill.
